This project came awhile back. It was can you create a brand for a division of Scudder that creates retirement plans for non-profits. Of course I said yes. The problem was to try and show how forming a partnership with Scudder was the solution. So we chose to show different situations that illustrated what its like without a partner. Cool campaign.

“Want a quick turnaround job?”.

My Answer “How fast?”

He said “A couple of days.”

I took it.

It’s a little postcard trying to get customers to but a web based loyalty program for their radio stations. The image I posted was one of three I sent via email. They bought one of the other ideas. This one is still my favorite.

Oh yeah the product is really called Stickyfish.

Have done quite a bit of work for Arbitron. They asked for a printed piece that would go into the bags that everyone received when they went to one of their trade shows. This is what we came up with. Did all of the design, found the printer, even learned a few things about 3d art. Not as impossible as it seems.

I designed this brochure as a freelancer for an agency. Also designed their logo. I told them that everyone wants to send their kids to a school that was similar to Harvard. Not sure if that’s true but it worked. I have had quite a few calls from the agency asking me if I still had the pictures. It’s a worry.

This assignment was for a group inside of Fidelity to define their brand and create awareness. Thats it. Don’t sell anything. Don’t get them any more customers. So we came up with this idea that used sports that you didnt know much about and made the analogy with Fidelity’s Institutional Brokerage Group. Great idea. We had three other sports to extend the campaign. Someone with some power killed the campaign because they thought there was no need for it.

Part of the reason I loved direct mail was that I could pretend I was a great designer. We had this assignment to invite architects and show them how to save money for their customers by working with Boston Edison as they designed their homes. This result of this mailing exceeded expectations on a very small budget. And it got me to design a cool little box.

When I worked at Saatchi in Wellington I got to work on Toyota New Zealand. They have a couple of factories that assemble cars but they also import them. This direct mail piece was intended to get customers excited about the new Celica. Toyota was importing 200 of them from Japan. This piece was so successful that 90% of the care were sold before the boat ever arrived.
